Birthdays And Burnt Quiche

Hello everyone!!

This was such a good week full of little miracles!

We almost have Bertha on date for baptism! She told us this is what God needs her to do! We ended up sharing the story of Esther with her about how she was able to have the faith and the courage to do something hard that God asked her to do. We invited her to follow Esther's example and she said she knew what she needed to do!

Bertha said that her son was interested in learning more about the plan of salvation so we went to visit him! He said he couldn't talk but we left him with a pamphlet and will go back later this week!

He lived in an apartment and there were about 10 apartment buildings around him that were unlocked so we took this as a tracting opportunity! The first couple doors we knocked didn't answer or said no but we decided to knock a few more doors. We were walking to another building when I turned and started walking to a specific door. I wasn't sure why but we went with it! We knocked 3 times and she finally answered! She invited us in! This has not happened to me yet in my mission so it was truly a miracle! Her name is Cecile and she is the sweetest lady! We shared a message, she accepted a Book of Mormon, and she wanted us to come back!

It was Sister Hoki's birthday this week so we ended up celebrating the last preparation day and we got food on Wednesday! We went to a gyro place and it was so good! We got her birthday cake granola because she told us about it and it became the joke that we get granola on our birthdays! It was so hard to get it for her because as we were grabbing it at the store they walked up to talk to us so it was hidden behind my back the whole time. Her family also keeps sending her Bob Ross stuff throughout the week and we are so confused why but it is hilarious! We have a Bob Ross Chia pet on our table! She was also on exchanges that day so Hermana Stark got to join us for the day!

The Hermanas also have a cow painting in their room and they know how much I like cows so they gave it to me and it makes me so happy! The only problem is it is huge and I am scared I won't be able to pack it but I am determined! Transfers are next week!

We found someone outside of our mission! His name is Kyle and he said he has met with missionaries before! Doing missionary work online is amazing because God is able to place us in the path of anyone who is ready to hear His message, not just the people in our area! We will pass him off to the elders in Michigan this week!

We had our Facebook live this week! It went so well!

On Thursday we had a lesson with one of the members set up but that ended up not happening. We didn't want the miles we used to go to waste so we decided to contact a referral that lived across the street! She didn't answer so we ended up talking to the landlord, John, and he was so nice! Once we got cleared up that we were not Jahovah witnesses he was a little more willing to talk. He said he was Lutheran and that he goes to church every Sunday by himself because his wife and daughter don't go anymore but he is still happy to go! We told him that we love to do service for people and he said he might take us up on that! When we handed him our card he said he'd call if wanted a message or service! We tried knocking on the referrals door a couple more times and she yelled go away I'm not home

Later that night we came back to the members home and she was still not there so we decided to tract again! We started knocking on doors and a couple answered one said no. One only spoke spanish and we couldn't speak Spanish and didn't really know what to do so we said the little Spanish we knew and went on to the next house. We will send the Hermanas to them later. The last door we went to we knocked and a little girl popped her head out the window and started waving at us! It was the most adorable thing ever! We no longer needed to knock to get attention because the little girls started shouting for her mom that we were at the door. Her mom, Justice, came out and was so excited to hear a message! She was so sweet and wanted us to come back! For some reason we had good luck with door knocking this week!

I feel like I am getting better at cooking! Everyone calls me the mom of the group but I will take it as a compliment because mom's are amazing!  We made pineapple meatball lettuce wraps and I was skeptical at first but they were really good! A cooking fail that I did have this week was that I wanted the quiche to be a little bit more crispy so I put the leftovers in a little longer and sorta forgot about it. It definitely got crispy after that, the rest of my favorite quiche was no longer edible but I didn't burn down the house!

I love and miss you all!
